THE COTSWOLD PROJECT
Find Your Happy Place
Holistic CIC
THE TEAM
A small group of us really wanted to share our love of horses, our fascination of learning new things and our passion to make the daily experiences of the equines in our lives as happy as possible. In addition, we wanted to help people who weren't having such a great time and show how being around horses, learning to ride and be part of a friendly and welcoming community could make amazing changes happen in their lives.
"I strongly believe in trying to make a positive difference wherever I can, to whomever I can. Coaching is the best job in the world and watching my pupils change and grow, seeing how their horizons broaden and seeing how they take those lessons into a brighter future is the most incredible privilege. To be able to help the horses do their equine version alongside makes every day special and I can't wait to share it with you"
Olivia Pollard
Folly (Welshie)
15.1hh Welsh Cob
Our beautiful Welshie...Folly is a gentle soul and works with people of all ages and abilities.
She is a firm favourite of all who come to the yard, her generous heart means that she will take care of anyone riding her, for example, by slowing her gait if she feels you are unsteady in the saddle.
If she has confidence in your abilities though, beware - she may be a docile cob, but she's no slouch!
Olivia (Liv) Pollard
Director, Equine Lead
Passionate about helping humans and horses, Liv has always been drawn to those in need. She is one of only 60 Ride With Your Mind (RWYM) biomechanics coaches and runs one of only two biomechanics based riding schools in the country. She has ridden for more than forty years and has been coaching for almost 20 years.

Liv holds a current First Aid certificate, NSPCC safe guarding certificates and has held a 5* rated riding school licence form Cotswold District Council for the past 11 years.
She is hard-working, supportive, compassionate and an advocate for science informed practice.
Elliott
16.2hhThoroughbred x Cob
Elliott is one of our latest rescues. He came to us from a racing yard.
You can see in this photo that he has a slightly stressed and startled expression and his back is currently more dippy than we would like. So we are busy working with him so that he can use his muscles in the correct way.
He is a fantastic case study for helping clients to become aware of their own body language and energy, he is very expressive!
Ceri Watkins
Director, Environmental Lead
Ceri is a former Registered nurse with a life long love of horses. It all started at an early age when she regularly badgered her parents for riding lessons. Eventually they gave in when she was ten. Aged 30 she achieved her wish to own her own horse and bought Sam, an 18 year old Welsh Section D cob for £200 including his tack!
Now, she likes to use natural horsemanship methods and environmentally sensitive pasture management. Her love of nature led to a Masters degree in Entomology and an inordinate fondness for beetles - especially dung beetles.
She has four rescue dogs, a husband and and a slightly neurotic rescue horse called Brave who is pictured above.
Ceri provides admin support and technical back up and is primarily based at home as she has a life limiting condition.

Toto (String Bean)
16.2hh Thoroughbred
An ex-racehorse, Toto is a classic thoroughbred - what is often portrayed as a sharp and flighty breed. Most of his more extreme behaviour (such as jumping 5 foot electric fencing ) has now ebbed away and as he has become more comfortable, he has remembered how to be a horse rather than an anxious speed freak.
Still an incredible athlete, he's a much calmer cookie most of the time! He is mostly ridden by Liv and her daughter Amber (pictured above).
Apache (Patch)
15.1hh Appaloosa x Cob
Our team's Melman (a bit of a hypochondriac!).
Apache will always try hard to please and loves his humans to kindly take charge, giving them the opportunity to see how much of a difference the handler's confidence makes to the horse - he'll follow or carry you anywhere as long as he's sure you have a plan...
Patch likes nothing better than to be fussed over and will happily stand for hours being grooming, plaited and cuddled.

Sienna (Bean)
15.1hh Appaloosa x Cob
Folly's daughter, Siena has been with Olivia since the day she was born in a field in Wales.
Easy to ride but hard to ride well, Siena will challenge the strength of your intentions as well as your core/leg muscles!). On the ground, you'll need to work on persuading her and working with her rather than forcing and expecting her to do as you ask. She is quite a character and will give you useful skills for many other areas of life.
She loves her Mum (Folly) and dinner time but has a disdain of bananas - just one whiff and she heads to the back of the stable!
Deborah (Debs) O'Kane
Canine Assisted Learning
"When teaching I gain immense satisfaction from seeing young people blossom when they are given the support the support and confidence boost that they may need." When using Canine Assisted Learning, Debs states she can see the truly positive effect that dogs can have on well-being, contentment and confidence.
Debs is a true animal lover having grown up on a farm surrounded by animals including horses and working dogs.
Debs completed her first Degree at Agricultural college and worked in food production before training as a primary school teacher and teaching for a number of years including 1:1 for special educational needs.
Alongside teaching, Debs trained as a Puppy School tutor using reward based, force free methods and became a Pets as Therapy volunteer.
In her free time, she enjoys riding with her daughter and cross country running with her dogs (Canicross).
Rebecca (Becca) Rollings
Play Therapist
Becca is a calm and empathic person who is passionate about working with children to improve their wellbeing.
She has a degree in Psychology and a certificate in Counselling Training.
After having her own children, she became fascinated by the way in which play could be used as a therapeutic tool. Consequently, she went on to train as a Play Therapist with PTUK. She has worked with both private clients and in educational settings, including several years at a primary school. Becca uses a holistic approach and a variety of methods to help people process trauma, improve confidence and equip children with the tools for growth.
When not working, she enjoys family life, riding her horse and walking her dog.
Finlay (Fin)
14.3hh Connemara
Liv rescued Finlay in 2023 after a serious bout of laminitis (a very painful disease affecting the hooves) which meant that his owner could no longer look after him.
He is a sweet curious horse with a BIG character who is regaining his mojo after a tough first summer recuperating. With the right management, we think he will have many happy years to come. He will try to tell you that he is allowed to eat all the grass he wants but don't let him fool you. He is now on a very carefully managed diet and exercise programme to help prevent further laminitis attacks.

Sheba
16.2hh Thoroughbred
Sheba, chucked out of the racing industry at just over four years old, was lucky to have met a kind trainer who offered her to us.
Sheba is with us while we try and undo some of the damage that has been done to her physically and mentally and is making good progress.
You’ll see how you need to read her body language and manage your energy around her, a partner to work your way up to.
Paddy (Padders)
Canine Assisted Learning Partner
Paddy is a rescue dog who was found wandering as a stray in Cyprus. He arrived in England as a very timid puppy but has bloomed in confidence due to the loving care and training skills of his "Mum", Debs. At the age of eight, he is now an excellent Pets as Therapy dog, willing to listen at any time and always ready for fun and cuddles.
He enjoys meeting people of all ages but especially likes to visit schools. His favourite activity is curling up in the warmth, in front of a woodburning stove after a bit of action such as agility or canicross.
Susan (Susie) Burn-Strange
Director, Art and Crafts Lead
As a person who is curious about a myriad of topics and how they interrelate, Susie has gained extensive experience across a wide remit in the Art, Environmental, Education and Public Relations sectors.
Incorporating and integrating, multi-disciplinary arts with other topics such as maths, science and ecology is a wonderful way to learn about ourselves and where we are part of the natural world.
"It is a n honour to be in s position to facilitate and encourage other to grow in confidence, resilience and creativity whilst developinglife and social skills".
Poppy (Pops)
12.2hh Welsh Pony (Section C)
Poppy came to us after her owners out grew her. She is cheeky and full of fun and we are very fond of her!
Poppy has a larger than life attitude and likes to take things full on. This means that you will need to regulate your energy and have a confident manner in order to slow her down.
She loves food of any and every kind and mud but doesn't like Siena...at all!

Vix Novissimo
.
Vix was pony mad as a child and rekindled her love of horses on relocating to the Cotswolds with her two young children approximately 10 years ago.
She is a natural people person with a corporate, leadership and coaching background. She likes to take a holistic approach, helping people of all ages to thrive not just survive.
She has hands on, practical experience with children with additional needs, learning difficulties and the neuro-diverse. With a versatile and varied skill set, she is a calm and experienced addition to our team.
Honey
13.2hh Welsh Pony (Section C)
Honey is one of the most recent additions to the yard but is already becoming a favourite of those who work with her. She came to the Cotswolds as a youngster.
She thrives on variety and enjoys hacking out, fun rides and jumping.
She isn't very keen on spending time in the stable and much prefers to be out in the field or busy with a client.
